A celebration of South London's own river

The fifth Wandle Valley Festival will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June 2008 with free activities for all ages along the riverbank.

Fun at Merton Abbey Mills during the Wandle Valley FestivalFrom crafts to clean ups, treasure hunt challenges to guided cycle rides, the weekend aims to bring to life the rich history and ecology of the River Wandle.

Events and attractions include archaeological digs, arts events, historical displays and talks, map making, nature discovery activities and Shire horses.

The festival has been made possible by the enthusiasm and resources of over 20 ecology, heritage and local authority organisations.

Today most of London’s Thames tributaries flow underground or are imprisoned in concrete. The Wandle remains one of the few that is accessible for most of its length. Don’t miss your chance to discover and enjoy one of the country’s most interesting rivers.
