Download the Wandle Valley Festival 2009 bookletThe weekend brings to life the rich history of the area and lets you enjoy at first hand the wonderful wildlife.

Events include arts and crafts, heritage and nature discovery activities, archaeology 'digs', historical displays and talks, river clean-ups and music. There are also guided cycle rides (including family rides), fun runs and other sports activities and a variety of long and short guided walks in parks or along the river.

Almost all activities are free - see what's going on by browsing through our Activities page above or download the Festival booklet by clicking on the image on the right.

The Festival is made possible by the enthusiasm and resources of over 40 ecology, heritage and local authority organisations.

Today, most of London's Thames tributaries flow underground or are imprisioned in concrete. The Wandle remains one of the few that is accessible for most of its length. Don't miss your chance to discover and enjoy one of the country's most interesting rivers.
