Get active and have fun along the Wandle

The seventh annual Wandle Valley Festival will be held on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June 2010 with activities for all ages along the river in Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton and Croydon.

Boys with fishing nets by the WandleThe weekend brings to life the rich history of the area and lets you enjoy at first hand the wonderful wildlife.

Events include arts and crafts, heritage and nature discovery activities, archaeology 'digs', historical displays and talks, river clean-ups and music. There are also guided cycle rides (including family rides), fun runs and other sports activities and a variety of long and short guided walks in parks or along the river.

Almost all activities are free, and the Festival is made possible by the enthusiasm and resources of over 40 ecology, heritage and local authority organisations.

Today, most of London's Thames tributaries flow underground or are imprisioned in concrete. The Wandle remains one of the few that is accessible for most of its length. Don't miss your chance to discover and enjoy one of the country's most interesting rivers.
