WalksSaturday 6th JuneSt George’s Hospital Charity’s Sponsored Walk9.30am from Wandsworth Town Station. A team from St George’s wend their way along the Wandle on a sponsored 11.4 mile walk, stopping for lunch at Morden Hall Park, then continuing to Wandle Park Tram Stop. All money raised will go to enhancing the environment at St George’s Hospital. All ages and abilities welcome! day to cover the length of the river: 11.4 miles. For a shorter walk,
you can head either north or south from any of the points and at any of
the times shown below. Stop for lunch at the Rose Garden, Morden Hall
Park. Bring a picnic or eat at the café. Drinks provided.
River Wildlife Walk through Wandsworth2pm Walk the Wandle through Wandsworth
town centre to find out more about the wildlife that uses the river and
where it lives! Two hour walk. Start at The Spit (where the Wandle meets
the Thames). Morden Hall Park National Trust10am-12 noon Nature Walk around the Park Led by Tony Drakeford, well-known naturalist and author of the ‘River Wandle Wildlife Guide’. Meet at Morden Cottage near the Snuff Mill. Search out the elusive Hornet Clearwing Moth8 -10am Meet at Dale Park, entrance off Dale Park Avenue, Carshalton. Guided Walk around Wetlands and Nature Reserves10.40am Visit four Wandle wetlands/nature reserves, including the National Trust-owned Watermeads. Length 3-4 miles; easy walking. Sutton’s Tree Officer and Tree Warden to identify and discuss trees
along the Wandle. The walk will go to Watercress Park. Refreshments at
Honeywood Museum by the Ponds. Start at the Leoni Bridge in Grove Park
by the Carshalton Ponds. Guided walks around Spencer Road Wetland11am and 12noon Meet at Spencer Road Wetland entrance at junction of Spencer Road and Wood Street, Hackbridge.
