Croydon ActivitiesSaturday 7th JuneGuided walk from Croydon to Wandsworth with the Ramblers9.30am Join the Ramblers Association for a walk which goes at an easy pace and is suitable for everyone, including families. Take the day to cover the whole length of the river - 11.4 miles. For a shorter walk, you can head either north or south, from any of the points and at any of the times shown below. Guided Cycle Ride from source to mouth and back9.30am Start at Pollards Hill Library on South Lodge Avenue, Mitcham, to ride to Waddon Ponds and join the trail, and cycle to lunch near the Thames at Wandsworth. Return back via Merton Abbey Mills. Total distance 27 miles. With local leaders from Pollards Hill Cyclists. Leader: Mark 07711 688189. Special Fun Cycle Ride for Families9.50am for 10am Ride with Sutton Cycling Club/ De Ver Cycles club for children. Start at Waddon Ponds, north end of Mill Lane, off Purley Way. Ride to Carshalton Ponds (3.5 miles) for 'elevenses' and a welcome from the Mayor. Ride a further 3.5 miles to Morden Hall Park Rose Garden for lunch. Café nearby or bring a picnic. Hear about mills which operated from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century, what they produced and the people who owned and operated them. Start at Waddon Ponds. will be holding a family fun day in Wandle Park. Have your Sunday lunch
in the park and join our Teddy Bears' picnic, make a river flag and help
us mark out the flow of the River Wandle through the park. Learn about
the history of Wandle Park and its waters and celebrate the launch of
the Friends of Wandle Park. |
